Just pulled lower unit on my 50hp. force blocked off exaust ports at the bottom and on leg, leaving only peee hose open. Under pressure I have water seeping from around spark plug inserts as well as out of the vent hole in the cover behind the main terminal block on the side of the engine. There's no water in cylinders and both plugs are nice and brown, but will only run in lower three tilt slots if raised to the top two it'll run hot. I'm begining to feel cracked power head as well as crancked or warped cylinder head somebody say it ain't so Please! Ijust bought this boat end of feb. and had problems ever since. Just call me bumfuzzeled!

Can't help with the cover plate behind the terminal, but typically these engines have a cover over the head which forms the head cooling passages. This cover is held on by the head bolts and one or two 7/16 bolts. It is sealed with either a sealer or paper gasket and with age, leaks in various spots. So the leak around the spark plugs is probably not serious-- just needs to be re-sealed.

If your plugs are brown on a 2 cycle outboard, you are running too lean.

This is confirmed by the running hot scenario when the motor is tilted up.

Too lean.

The motor has run hot and some damage may have been done.
Check the compression.
Hopefully just old gaskets on the water jacket.
Open it up and inspect for damage.
Adjust that fuel mixture or start saying your goodbyes.
