WATER loss

I am loosing water I do not no how I have a 1984 seaswirl with a 4cyl omc 3.0 replaced all the hoses .I can smell antifreeze when i stert it then it goes away. the motor has been rebuilt about 22 hours ago I can fill the tank but at the end of the day it is empty ?

i would suggest a pressure test be performed on freshwater side. my guess is its a leak in the heat exchanger or head gasket.

if it was the head gasket I thought it would have water in the oil ?

had a volvo 4 cylinder that started losing coolant. at the same time started running rough at startup. both symptoms got worse and worse till it finally would only run on three holes. so off came the head. pinhole in one combustion chamber. casting flaw in the head. never saw any sign of water in the oil. smell on startup early on was noticed.

OK I just changed the intake gasket it was broke in 2 places cleaned both parts and replace with a new gasket. Filled the tank and fired her up it showed antifreeze on the start then it stopped loosing water until I started again same thing happened. Now what

what was the reason for the rebuild and did you have the problem before rebuild...what is the compression .... how does it sound & run ?

prior to this It was rebuilt because I had a lot of blow bye so I brought ti to the boat shop he said it was running on 2 cyl instead the 4 it came with. Now it runs like a champ No water loss for the first 20 hours then this if this was not going on I would have to say it runs Great. stumped
