Water not circulating through engine and out

I just fired up the engine, with the muffs on and the water isn't circulating through. I let it run for about a minute and nothing. It's spitting little bits of anti freeze but that's it. I replaced the impeller in the water pump last fall. All connections look good, no water leaking in the bilge. Doesn't look like there are any kinked hoses.

How long can I run my motor to see if it will eventually circulate?

If you ran for a minute with no water, you need a new impeller for sure.

Update - pulled the water pump - the impeller was fine. Figured out that I had to squeeze the muffs to get the water up the water intake tube until the whole system was full. Not sure if the system needed to be filled to form suction (first start up since winter). Breathed in a bunch of exhaust, but it worked and everything is fine after a couple minutes.....time for some Sierra Nevada's, I've had enough excitement for one day. Mothers (wife) happy I'm finished!
