water outlet for 70 hp johnson stinger????

Just a dumb question about my 70's era Johnson 70hp stinger motor. Is there a water outlet up high somewhere on this motor to see that your water pump is working? I have never seen water shooting out like on some other motors including my 9.9 mariner kicker (shoots out the drivers side under edge of cover). I don't really see anywhere for the water to come out except maybe straight out mid way up the lower housing thru two 1/2" to 5/8" holes.
Never had any over heating issues and motor runs fine just wondering about this since I threw the kicker on and noticed the water coming out of the port. Thanks

Since you didn't post your model number, we don't know exactly what engine you have. Look at the parts breakdown for your engine and see if it had a tell-tale. You can install one on your engine if it didn't have one.

I will try to see waht model number the motor is. I figured most 1970's johnsons in 70 hp were the same. I don't have a manual for the motor but will try to google a parts break down. Thank you for your help.

I looked at the motor. It is a 75ELR76D. Not sure of year, but think it is 70's. I have the serial number also J4553985. Thanks.

75ELR76D = 1976 75hp
Did not see a telltale on the parts breakdown, will have to build your own kit.

My motor cover says 70hp stinger. I take it has replaced at some point. thank you for help and insight into this. I had no idea I had a 75hp until I wrote those numbers down and then you confirmed it. Is a telltale that important? I have not had any issues with motor. Do these motors go thru water pumps fairly quickly? Should I just replace the water pump impeller when trying to put in a telltale. I have had this rig for a little over 2yrs and have no idea how many hours on it. It had not been run for while before I bought it buy I will say that both motors must have been put to bed right because they both started right up and had no issues. Thanks again.
