Just dropped a 9.9 mariner on My 16 ft renkin tri hull. It had a Johnson 35 horse (older Model) which weighed quite a lot more. Now the Bow is riding too low. I need to add some weight to the boat to bring the bow up but not sure how much higher the bow should sit in the water. This boat seemed to ride low in front before i did this but really never thought this would happen. Am I expecting this boat to handle too much? I cant keep it off the bow when sitting still in 1 1/2 waves. By the way it is a fiberglass boat. What would be considered safe water conditions for this boat?
Plastic Pumper

Wondering if your boat may be water logged.
Sometimes fiberglass boats absorb water into the structure. If the boat was stored with the bow down
water may have settled there and been absorbed.
Even with windshield and controls forward and your motor and 6gal tank in the back the empty boat should be reasonably level.

Well it is pretty level just a little lower in the front. Thought of adding some weight to the rear to compensate for the motor being lighter. Not really sure how this boat should take the waves. Seems like 1 1/2 is about all it could handle and that dosn't really work well on bigger lakes. Don't know of what else to try. It has been stored with the bow up and tarped most of the time.

Re: Water over bow

Is the boat low in the bow when sitting or does the bow ride low when underway. The bottom may have a hook that would make the bow push down.
It sure seems odd that a 16 ft boat would be so low at the bow.Unless it is a low boat to begin with. The few 16ft boats Ive noticed have at least
30 inches of depth.I think I would try to tell if boat has soaked up water. You could try lifting the boat by hand on the trailer. Glass boats are pretty heavy but 2 guys should be able to lift one end.pretty easy.

Two can lift it some but its heavy. It sat out 3 years ago and we forgot to pull the plug and it was tarped but leaked. Drained it as soon as we noticed but I would think that should have been dried out a while back. It was in storage last year and it didnt make much differance. Its bow raises fine when underway but the whole boat sits low probably 18 inches off the water. Pulling the bigger motor seemed to let the bow go down even farther,I have added 120 lbs of weight to the rear and figured Id try that. Beginning to think it is just the way the boat is suppose to ride but sure seems like a boat that came with a 35 horse motor should be able to handle berlin or mosquito.
