I am having some problems with water pooling on my snap on mooring cover. What do you guys use to help prop it up. I have one ectension pole in the middle of the cover which is where it has the sleeve for the pole. Is there anything else I can use to stop the pooling near the rear?
Thanks

Re: Water pooling on mooring cover

Here is an idea that works well and is cheap to implement.

Purchase some PVC conduit (1/2" or 3/4") in the 10ft lengths. The stuff is very tuff yet easy to form into an arch. Find a spot on either side of the gunnels that will serve as an "anchor" point. Determine the correct length by experimentation to achieve an arch of the proper/desired height. Cut the PVC to the desired length and bend them into an arch and fit into the anchor points. You may need to be creative and come up with a way of keeping it upright, or the cover itself may hold it in place.

I had one of those Wal-Mart ones. It worked and did it's job but they are fragile. They're made of brittle plastic and mine didn't last long. Now I used the device optik45 posted above.

We use three poles to support the canvas.

Plus, at the stern - we installed two bow sockets and went to the hardware store and bought a piece of aluminum to use and cut it so it bows upward and supports that part of the canvas that's over the doghouse. it pulls the cover tight and we no longer have the pooling.

It works great - iboats carries them and the aluminum is inexpensive, doesn't rot and is easy to store. I would get the metal support brackets. Ours are screwed right into the side of the blower vents. four screws and you're done.

I'd hate to have to have all of those poles around.
