I recently Installed a water pressure gauge. On a 1987 force 125. Used the 1/8 npt port on top of the cylinder head. At idle it's almost always zero. Climbs to about 6 psi while it's first running then after it's warm I only get between 2-4 psi even at WOT. But if I rev it in neutral I can get 10 to 15 psi. Is all this normal? Boat runs well and does not overheat. 110 degree thermostat water pumps good from pee holes. Anyone know normal pressures for this engine? Thanks for any help

You are only registering partial pressure, the other half is flowing by the Cylinder heads (even more so when the thermostat is open)

IF... you got a steady stream from the tell-tail & she's not over heating.....then you're good

The 87
They didn't have any literature on the pump pressure.
That motor came with a pressure relief and under wide
open operation the relief would open and the pressure
would drop??
Test the buzzer, then replace with a motorcycle horn.
I've never been able to hear the tiny little buzzer when it goes off.

Thanks for the info. Buzzer works tested it. I could install a new impeller and compare numbers. I was told the water pressure gauge is a better indicator then temp. Sounds like as long as it's flowing it's ok. Any thoughts why it climbs so high reving in neutral. All these numbers are in the lake. Only one I didn't list was 6psi running in neutral on muffs. Thanks again for the info.
