About three years ago I purchased a new Mercury 45HP outboard jet motor. I now would like to add a water pressure gauge. Two models are available: 0-15 lbs. and 0-30 lbs. Which would be best for this motor?

I gotta kinda question the usefulness of a pressure guage in an o.b. jet situation.Remeber ,you are likely running riffles with areated water and in those situations you will see that water pressure plung even though there is plenty of water being delivered to the water pump and powerhead.A temp guage might better suit your needs.

Re: Water pressure gauge for outboard jet

My problem is that I am forced to run slowly through some very weedy areas (especially in and out of the marina) and clogs are a problem. I figure that a pressure gauge will give a quick indication that the flow is getting restricted before the temp starts rising. I just don't know if the max water pressure in the motor is closer to 15 or 30 psi. If it is over 15, I'll get the 30 pounder.
