Water pressure gauge install.

Does anyone one know if a water pressure gauge can be installed directly to the head via fitting on a "87 johnson 120, or do I have to go the telltale route? Thanks.

on earlier V4's, there's a threaded plug on the starboard head - very top on the side. Slotted for flat screwdriver, easy to identify
