While fishing in Canada cold water, grass chocked water intake and caused overheat warning signal. We cleared and it ran well except the the tell tale stearm is sometimes slow or stops. We intend to have water pump replaced. Some questions (1) Is there a screen/filter in front of the water pump? Can junk get past pump and flow through motor water system? Can system be flushed out or air blown out? (2) Is there a thermostat or something called a pop-up valve? Where are they on the motor? Need to test/replace? (3)What parts of water pump should be replaced?
