I need advice on removing this pump housing. Screw head all broke off near the top. Corrosion is evident.

Do I:Break the pump house to get to the screws stubs or is there some trick I can try? The pump housing is no longer available through factories... I think?

Any ideas?

The pump housing looks like it may have pitting inside. If that's the case, the housing is expendable. Looks like it's been a really long time since anyone's been there. Make sure to coat the screws with gasket cement. You'll proabably need a machine shop to get the screw remains out.

Yes...It looked pretty corroded inside. Where would I pick another housing from? Is there a later model part number that would do the job?

If you get a complete kit from any BRP Evinrude dealer, it probably has detailed instructions on how to do the job right. The kit includes the housing, impeller, key and all soft parts needed. PN is 379774 ... I saw it on Ebay today for $80 (US) plus shipping.

I hit it with the hammer. It didn't do too much damage. Just the water outlet crushed a little. As you can see there is a bit of crust in there.

WOW thats nasty !!!!
i was gonna suggest drilling 2 5/32" holes in the top of the housing and running two 1-1/2"x10-32 screws in the holes using the wear plate to push it off of the broken screws - i did this on my fastwin because i knew the housing was toast anyways worked GREAT!! just ruins the housing

What's the rest of the mtr look like, meaning p/h cooling passages and ect? That's the worst one I've seen in a long time.

303831 pump housing is not obsolete. But the 379774 kit on the bay is a better deal.
