Hi everybody.
I have a 1994 12HP Force outboard and it is giving me grief. I have had the boat almost 3 months now and haven't had it out yet.
It started with Tilt and Trim hydraulic issues and after several weeks of trying this and that, the hydraulics all work fine now.
Next I tried to run the motor and I had to kill it because there was no water coming out of the pee holes. First I tried it with the lower unit in a tub with the water almost up to the bottom of the cavitation plate (covering all the inlets). next I attached a set of those muffs and tried again and this time a small trickle of water came out but I didn't think it was enough so I killed it again.
Bought the impeller and the gasket, dropped the lower unit out. Will this ever end?
The pump housing was all cracked and broken. Took it off and the cup insert thing was damaged, deformed and the wear plate also had some pretty deep scores in it. The impeller was serviceable but anyway.
I took the impeller and gasket back and swapped it for a kit. My next problem is this:
There is plastic broken away from the hole where the screw goes in at the top of the picture and the locating dowel is broken at the opposite end. I want to try using some of that 2 part epoxy putty where the plastic is broken at the top and drill through it and put a 4mm bolt with a nylock nut on the bottom and where the dowel pin is broken away on the bottom end, I want to drill a 5mm hole there and press a 5mm pin into it.
Reckon this will work OK?
Brian
