Water pump gasket kit Sierra 18-3214

When I went replace my impeller this past week I went online and ordered a Sierra Impeller kit 18-3214. The photos for the kit shows the Sierra 18-2546 lower gasket is part of the kit. Instead you get the gaskets I show in the second photo. Two are the same. The difference comes in the gasket I photoed. It is a lower gasket made of some type of metal. It does match up with the steel wear plate but it obviously is not gasket that is solid with a small hole cut for the flow of water.
The online vendor has agreed the Sierra 18-3214 kits he has all have this metal gasket. Not the original style. He has contacted Sierra to see if this is some sort of change or upgrade to original. But won't know anything until next week. I'm trying to get my boat launched in three days. Several reasons for that.
So, I ran over to West Marine a couple of hours ago. They show the same Sierra kit with the proper gasket included. And it was in stock. When I got there I found it was same issue. The photo online shows the original gasket in the kit. See the first photo above. But when I got to the store the kit had the metal gasket again in place of the original. I'm trying to get my boat buttoned up and back on the water. Does anyone know if this lower metal gasket will work in place of the original 18-2546 gasket. Help!!

I’ve never seen that pump without the metal baseplate with gaskets above and below it. The impeller runs on top and would wear anything else out.
