new water pump and i noticed the new (and old) have a hole back by the water tube inlet.

can any one tell me why they have this hole there? it goes thru both housings and i never saw any gaskets for it when i removed the old pump. what function does it do?

Re: water pump: hole question

There should be a either a 1/4" s/s bolt or a 1/4" s/s self tapping screw in the hole to help seal the 2 housing together.

thanks.

that's interesting because there was never anything there when i removed the old pump...which could be why the bearing failed on the driveshaft. maybe it allowed water to leak down onto the bearing (?)
