Water pump housing problem

Removal of the water pump housing on my 9.5 Evinrude (the motor had set unused for 5 - 10 years) revealed that the housing cup had small pits in it. This was after removing impeller crud in the cup with a wire brush using a Dremel tool. The small pits were on the top of the cup and the sides.

Do I need to replace the housing? Will the small pits abrade the impeller so that I need to replace the impeller more often than once a year? If I need a new water pump housing, where can I get one. Many of the sites referred to in this forum do not show a water pump housing for a 9.5 1964 Evinrude/Johnson. I already have a water pump repair kit.

Thanks for all you help.

Well, if you can find a new cup, buy all means replace your old pitted one...but if not, then run it like it is, and check/replace impeller every year. Maybe you could use your Dremel tool and some metal compound to polish most rough edges off the pits so they don't eat your impeller too quickly...
