I have a 1990 Force 150. I've been asking questions regarding pee holes, thermostats etc. Today I dropped the lower unit to change the impeller. What I found was a cracked housing damaged impeller. Is there a kit to relace the whole impeller housing. If so where do I get such a kit? If not where do I get the parts to do the job? Thanks Bill Mc

I am not sure which part you need. Here is a link lower unit
I believe item 36 is what you are looking for. They dont give a price for this on the web site but you can copy the part number and call a merc dealer to find a new part.

Good luck

Another option is to deal directly with MERCURY PARTS EXPRESS online. You can buy one small part or a whole kit. You will have to know either the serial number of your motor or the part number. A way to start out in the second regard is to order a parts booklet for your motor for a few dollars from the same source -- a very helpful thing to have. And you have the option of picking up the ordered part from a nearby dealer or having it delivered for a reasonable price by UPS. This is not a plug, just info.

Thanks for your replies! Replaced the housing, the stainless cup the impeller sets in, impeller, and gaskets. Started motor and it spits water nicely from the idle relief holes. What I noticed after shuting it down was gas coming out of the lower carb a drop here and there but enough to pool in the plastic carb cover. Is this normal? As for the thermostat replacement, the one I bought through iboats mega mall was too small. It would go right into the water jacket. Tested the old one and it tested good, so I put it back in. I then went to a NAPA store and found out there that the larger thermostat is a Chrysler stat, which is still available thru them only its 143 degrees instead of 130 degrees. Splash down is up next. Thanks Bill Mc I should add that when the gas was dripping the motor was tilted up.

The gas will drain out of carb when motor is tilted up. This is common with most outboards. I will give you a merc number for your thermostat when I get home if nobody else does it first

EBG I went to MERCURY PARTS EXPRESS, they do not list Force. How do I use this site regarding Force parts? Thanks Bill MC

Force is a mercury motor. Dont know why they dont have a part number for you. Here is a link for you force power head
Item 35 is your thermostat. Order that part number from your merc dealer.
