Water pump impeller question

I have a 1979 chrysler 700 skier, engine number 709H79a. I was looking for a water pump kit for this. Some that I have found have 12 blades on the impeller and some have 6. Is it ok to use either one, is one prefered over the other? I would like to have the correct one in hand before pulling the lower unit off. I am not sure which one is in there now. Thanks in advance!

The original was a 12.If you can fit a 6 in there it won't hurt.
Just make sure it's a good fit.

Interesting because the one in the seloc book is a six. The one in the water pump kit is a 12. If I look up just the impeller part number on ebay it is a 12, but the kits using the oem part number on ebay are 6. Thanks for the input.
