Water pump impeller

I am changing out the water pump on my 1984 70 hp evinrude. The old impeller is slotted with a keyway and the new has a plastic half round which seems to be desined for a "flatted" shaft rather than a keyed shaft. Is this new impeller correct? Am I to to assume they are a one type does all now?

Sounds like the wrong impeller to me but then I don't know that model, or maybe it's been superceded or updated.

Yep just looking over the parts section of this site and see that someone must have installed an older lower unit on this motor as the impeller changed in 78/79.
