Not too hard, but there are a lot of little steps to follow.
If this has not been done in a while, or if unsure, replace the entire waterpump, not just the impeller.
You will need a repair manual. You can buy one here, click icon at bottom of page.
You will need to read and follow the sections on prop removal, lower unit removal, water pump, re-install, shift linkage adjustment. It takes about 2 hours the first time you do it. It also helps to have an extra pair of hands, especially to re-install the lower unit.

It should be quite similar to what he's already done. Good luck

It makes things go easier, points out other things to watch for, tells you how to adjust the shift linkage. There are some spacers in the waterpump that look the same, but they are slightly different. Don't forget to remove the trim tab, so you can get to the bolt underneath it. Be safe, disconnect the sparkplugs before you start working on it.

If you buy the water pump kit, it should come with detailed instructions. I found these instructions to be better and easier to follow then my manual. I just replace the water pump in my 1990 50hp Force and it was no problem. Just take it slow and do one step at a time.

The kit was about $53.00. It came with a new housing, impeller, new bolts and gasket, along with the instructions. A good contact for Force parts is a guy named Walter at Marine Parts Finders, Inc. His email is walter@marineparts.com. He has found all of those so called "Hard to Find" Force parts for me and shipped them quickly. Hope this helps. Marine Parts Finders, Inc
