Water Pump Issue

I have a problem with my Mercury 9.8 and need some help. Last weekend I started the engine and no water was coming out of the tell-tale. I checked the impeller and it was in bad shapped, so I removed it, removed the pieces and replaced it with a new one. I flush the system before assembling again to make sure water was runing ok. I started the motor again but same problem, no water is coming out. Any ideas? kind of desperate....thanks!

welcome aboard,<br />sounds like there may still be pieces of the impeller blocking water flow. try some compressed air through the tell-tale (peehole)<br />good luck,<br />M.Y.

I'd take the lower unit off and make sure that I seated the water tube into the pump correctly when I assembled it. Did you install the key on the drive shaft to keep the new impeller from just spinning on the shaft?<br /><br />Brent

Mellow Yellow / BF, thank you both for your replies. I took the lower unit off again and blew some air through the water ducts. Nothing came out, but I assembled it again and it worked, so I supose that was it. Thanks for the Help!

MellowYellow - Ain't that the truth! (You cause me to coment on this...) I just did lots of essential work to my 115 Mariner, to include a water pump rebuilt and more, and when I fired it up with high hopes just couple days later... no water flow, and I couldn't understand why. When I removed the upper water line and blew on it, out popped a moth's cocoon! Needless to say, water flow was perfect after that.
