On my starboard engine the raw water pump is leaking between the pulley and the housing on my 1999 454 big block. After struggling for over an hour I was finally able to remove it from the boat. Can't understand why a boat manufacturer would design the back seat to be within an inch or two of the front of the motors. To actually get at the pump I ended up having to remove the main water pump hose, the alternator and the bracket holding the alternator to the block. Very difficult job getting at this pump. I have not had a chance to tear down the pump to see why the water is coming out of the front of the housing. All I know is that while out on the t water the pump was doing a fine job spraying both motors with salt water.I guess I can expect issues with a boat that just turned 15 years old. For about $300 I can pick up a new OEM pump complete.I will also replace both thermostats because both motors are running 180-200 degrees at cruising speed of around 48 MPH.
