Hey guys I've got a question, my 67 Evinrude 18 horse is not pumping adequate enough water, have installed a new impeller a new pump housing and it still doesn't pump very much water out of there I'm kind of stumped as to why I sealed the pump housing down and the wear plate with sealer, never encountered this before after doing those repairs

You had the Powerhead off?
The Blockage could be prior to the Pump

Did you use factory ( quality ) parts ?-----Is the motor overheating ?----Inspected / tested the thermostat ?

I've had to lower unit off in my barrel with a drill on the drive shaft spinning it and it doesn't pump very much water the thermostat appears to be working there's no blockage in the powerhead I can pour water in the thermostat housing and it runs out through the bottom

The water pump housing is OEM the impeller is a knockoff I got from Amazon I've considered maybe that might be the problem but I use the same impeller in my 25 horse and it works fine

If the Pump can't pump much water, it either isn't getting the water to Pump, or it has Mechanical Issues, as too great of Clearances. You say you replaced the Pump Housing, the Wear Plate, the Impeller. What about the Oring at the top of the pump?

O-ring at the top of the pump? I've never seen one that had an o-ring at the top of the pump I did replace the water tube Brahmin if that's what you're talking about all the water pump parts are brand new except the wear plate which looked fine

Well I had the lower on the motor last week had it running and it was spraying out mist out of the discharge port so I took the lower back off tested it with my drill there was water coming out around the center of the pump housing with the drive shaft goes through and barely putting out any water so I bought a OEM pump housing put it on today test it with my drill and the water flow isn't much better as far as the depth of the lower in the water I would say it comes up to the top where the lower bolts to the upper exhaust housing

So water was spraying out the discharge. Do you think that was not enough, or what? Was it overheating?

Turning it with a drill doesn't prove a dang thing except it is going 'round and 'round..

Well it was getting pretty warm before just spraying mist out of the discharge, before I changed the pump housing today I haven't had it back on the motor yet to test it I, tried it with my drill, I've seen guys on YouTube use the drill to spin the water pump and usually water sprays out of there quite a bit I guess I need to get the lower back on the motor and in my tank and test it and see what it does

Wear Plates that 'look fine' sometimes aren't
