i changed out the impellar on my 2007 df9.9 suzuki and i am still not getting much water coming out of my tell tale. by not much i mean it is just spitting out and not a stream like it should be. i checked everything like ten times and now am at loss for what to check. the things i have done are pushing compressed throught the tell tale, poking the hole with a small pin, checking the inpellar for proper placement. like i said i am at a loss and any help would be appreriated on this matter before i lose my mind. thanks.

On My DF15 when it does work, It doesnt haul water well when hooked to a hose through the flush connection.
Are you in a barrel of water or on a flush kit?

If on a flush kit, I had to put something over the suction screen down where the prop is, just until pump gets primed, then it can be removed. Until I do this all the water seems to just run out the suction screen, instead of going through the motor.

Re: water pump on df 9.9

i am running the motor in a barrel and i can get it to pee a bit. i ran a piece of weed wacker line in the tell tale it does not seemed blocked but i can think of nothing else. when i rev up the motor it pisses more water but not in a steady stream. this is what makes me think it is something blocked up there. i don't want to rip it apart any farther but it seems i might not have any other choice. i also tryed blowing through the hole and sucking through with a dual action pump. would a bad thermostat have any thing to do with the lack of tell tale flow rate? once again thanks for the help on the matter of my problem.

stat will not effect tell tail.

Did you replace just the impeller or was it the kit with cup and wear plate and housing also?
I always use the kit and sometimes replace housing if needed

i just did the impeller. i am getting a bit more water coming out of it and was told to run vinegar through it to clean it up a bit due to the fact i run it in salt water. will remove the stat then try the vinegar thing nothing to loose.

Replace the cup, wear plate, and housing would be my 1st thing to do.
that will let impeller seal and pump better.

You can remove stat while running cleaner/vinegar through the motor if you want, but stat is needed in place to force water to circulate properly to all parts of motor. otherwise you will end up with hot and cold spots at different places, which is never good for motor
