Have a 2000 Yamaha 150, 300 hours and have never had the water pump serviced. Is this a do-it-yourself project and if so are there any resources, besides an engine manual that can give me generic or specific information on how to do this job? Thanks in advance to all who reply!

A Yamaha service manual will be the best source for a novice. A board like this will help with a more specific problem. It is not a tough job to service the pump, however there are lots of things in the manual to answer the basic questions such as how to pull the lower unit.

pretty straight forward, oceanluv, where are you at in florida, i may be able to help...

you need a manual, thats a given, always have a manual!!!

youll need to remove the lower unit bolts... remove shift linkage if aplicable, slowly slide lower unit off motor, have a buddy help, yours is pretty heavy... once its off, youll see it on top of the lower unit, remove the 4 screws fro the housing, slide it off the shaft , remove impellar, replace impellarand impellar key, ....then do the reverse....its really easy, takes about an hour or so, but GET THAT MANUAL!!!

this is just a generic description, but its really close
