Water pump peehole?

1974 85 Johnson has no pee hose/hole. I don't want to drill the block so can I split the thomostat hose and put a tee in it and down size to a 1/8 or some thing like that. I don't trust the over heat light.

The 74 had a warning horn in the control box.--Model # of the motor is ?---Some of the blocks have a boss on the casting where you would drill to install a fitting.---Blocks in the late 60's had a pipe plug there .--Look for the boss on the side of #1 cylinder !!

I don't fill safe drilling and taping it and I don't want to spend loads of money taking it to a shop
