water pump problem with 1997 evinrude 115

The last time I took my boat out I got the foot of my 1997 115 Evinrude stuck in some mud, was trying to catch some shrimp for bait. For a few minutes no water was coming from the water indicator, then the flow started slowly. Now it is about half of what it should be, but it is not running hot. Is it maybe clogged with mud, if so how do I get it out????

drop the leg off and take a look at the pump housing and impeller.<br /><br />Its not that hard to do, (particularly with a manual.)<br /><br />running mud through the pump would not do wonders for your impeller anyway, so you'd be best to replace it.<br /><br />While your at it, take out the thermostat and have a look in the water channels around it.. there could be mud all through it..<br /><br />I found alot of rubbish in mine, cleaned it out and found it alot more efficient.<br /><br /><br />give it a shot.<br /><br /><br />rgds<br /><br />frank
