Water pump question?

I have a 1986 Johnson 120, and I'm not getting any water out of the hose that indicates the engine is getting cooled. Is there a chance that the engine is still being cooled, but no water is coming out of the hose because it may be plugged? Or does this mean that no water is getting to the engine for cooling at all?

insects love to live in them. follow the hose back to the engine block, just a barbed fitting the hose slides over, remove and clear the hose. then if no water, no cooling. weed eater line works well to clear the hose.
