I read in another post that the powerhead has to be removed to get to the shifter linkage in order to replace the water pump. Does anyone have an exploded view or tips on doing this? Are other expendable parts needed other than pump parts to put it back together, I'd like to order it all at the same time.
I was also told that I can't get just an impeller for the original housing, that I need to get a 'kit' that contains a plastic housing and impeller.

Any help is appreciated.

You have to remove the powerhead. I think it's just 6 bolts (I think), once you disconnect fuel lines and throttle linkages. You'll need to replace the powerhead base gasket when you reassemble. Even if it looks good upon removal, just replace it. Search this forum, as I've seen the procedure detailed really well.

Sure you can get just the impeller. What you can't get is just the aluminum housing. If that is worn, you have to get a complete pump with a plastic housing with stainless steel liners.

You MUST use a new 303355 gasket and 303347 o-ring on the seal assembly at the top end of the driveshaft. Make sure the rest of the seal parts are good also. If that seal leaks, it will throw a rod sometime in the future.

The gasket and o-ring and impeller are available here at iboats.
