So I got the water pump replaced in my "Tracker" Mercury 60 ELPTO 2004 2 stroke taking it apart was interested and I also was going to replace the thermostat which some people told me not to do or worry about. Well after getting to the old water pump and impeller this is what I found
So we ordered the new kit and replaced everything to do with the water pump.
Wasn't really that big of a deal either went smoothly the biggest PIA was putting the lower unit back in to the outboard. But it started right up....there was a pee stream of water...buuuuuuuuuut it was more of a trickle.....so I thought well lets see whats in the thermostat and replace that.
It was all gunked up and there was even some parts in there just sitting around that I scraped out. So I replaced the thermostat and the gaskets as well. Put everything back to gather and yeah.....still not all that great. No change really, while it was running though I noticed water coming out of there places and I am not sure if this is normal because well my first outboard.
As you can see here circled in red the hole its coming out of and then water coming out of it.
Also there was a spot on the lower right next to one of the bolts where it would come out as well....this one is harder to see because well picture of moving water right. But I am also going to post videos. Right in the middle of the red circle you can see a uniform stream of water coming down the hole it comes out of seems to belong there its not a crack or anything and they are both machined holes.
So I was told by oldboat1 to flush out from the thermostat, did that as well.
Also gave some advice and help as well and I am still struggling with this.
