Re: Water Pump replacement 1987 SPL 88 horsepower Evinrude outboard Motor
No I haven't got the lower unit off. I definitely will though before I go boating for the first time. Rodbolt You were asking if I was going to change the Thermostats. I was just going to go ahead and replace the water pump only. I didn't think the thermostats needed to be replaced also. I will go ahead and buy the original water pump kit from a marine dealer for Evinrude motors. There is a Cope Marine dealership here in O'fallon, Illinois. This<br />way I don't have to do any modifications to any thing. Just take the old pump off and bolt on the new one without drilling modifying etc. Is this what you would suggest.
