My 89 Classic Fifty sat for a majority of its life. Typical money waster bought the boat new, used it a summer or two and it sat up until last summer.

The boat hasnt got much use until last fall and this spring.

The tail tell is great. I have read here where the WP shold be replaced every 2 years anyway.

With a good pee tail, any reason I should open up a can of worms on the WP? My luck I will end up with a stuck shaft, steam after replacement, no flow SOMETHING!

It the impeller has not been replaced since 1989, then you should definately do so now, even if it seems to be working OK at the moment. Rubber gets old and weak over time and you want to avoid a sudden failure of the impeller. It is a relatively easy job as long as you have an OEM shop manual for guidance. Just my thoughts.
