Re: water pump replacement

A thin smear of ultra blue works well.----------Note---- a thin smear is all that is needed. Often we see way too much sealant used.

I myself would use Permatex # 3.

so racerone, who's "we?" If you are in the business, it would be useful to know your specialties for future reference. Mostly J and E?

Re: water pump replacement

oldboat1 I just got the new oem parts ,will try to do the job in 1wk or so.the instructions that came with kit says to apply adhesive 847 at several places in the pump, not sure what 847 is or if something else would work I understand you don't want a gob of something that could dislodge and stop something up I ordered factory service manual for this motor.will wait for it before doing repairs. I really thank all you guys for your help.:joyous:

Re: water pump replacement

sounds like the gasket sealant (or rather, a sealant) as discussed earlier. You would probably get it right yourself, and all kinds of advice on this disc. board, but good idea to wait for the service manual -- particularly when working on a friend's motor. Be nice if you could keep the service manual, or at least have access to it once the job is done. Good luck.
