Presently I have a Sherwood pump that is belt driven on my V-8-350 Volvo/CrissCraft.

Is it possible to bolt directly to my existing crank/vibration dampner for the pump that is driven off the crankshaft? Or will I need to change to a different dampner?

Thanks SS

Thanks.

Have always worried somewhat about breaking/loosing the belt off the raw water pump. Seems like the crank driven one would be more reliable. One less item to fail.....SS

Going to start looking for one. Of course I'm going to check with iboats first! :D .....SS

Herllo
yes it is a straight forward easy conversion. you will need the pump, the bolts the hoses and the bracket that prevents the pump from spinning. volvo has done it both ways over the years. 2 versions of the crank shaft driven and then a belt driven. I am with you. I see way to many repair jobs because the drive belt was neglected.
good luck and keep posting

I'd Think a Much Cheaper, Much Easier way to find peace of mind would be Change the Impeller,And the Belt Every Year......And carry Spares....
The pumps you're looking for are NOT Inexpensive......

Re: Water Pump retrofit to different style

Bondo, thanks for your concerns, I have been doing that for the last three years. I find that every year I'm not as flexible as I once was. It is a royal pain to get to the pump let alone to do the things a person needs to just to tighten the belt.

I know the pump is expensive, but being crank driven provides some self confidence that I don't need to worry about the belt popping off or breaking. Too much money invested already, some more for this will be like a better insurance plan.

Thanks again.....SS
