Water Pump

I replaced the impeller and key on my 1997 Johnson 115 HP. The blades are going in the correct direction. When I attach the motor flusher i get a good stream out the water pump, however when I put the lower unit into a tub of water there is little or no water coming out of the water pump. Any suggestions?

Are you sure you have enough water in the tub? It must cover the cavitation plate by at least a few inches...

Sounds like the exhaust within the tub is causing the waterpump to cavitate or the discharge tube from the waterpump is not sealed.I'd confirm whether it's pumping by backing it into a launch instead of a tub.Tubs are for small engines.

Recheck to be sure that the impeller key is still in place.....
