Water Pump

I was told that my fresh water pump for my 1986 250 Sundancer doesn't work. How hard is it to replace this? Where is it located? Does it have to be boat specific? Or do I just go look for a regular water pump? This is to get the water running thru my faucets (to clarify). Anyone have any suggestions?

First you need to determine if the pump is bad - you may have a wiring/fuse or switch problem. Follow the path of the water feed lines to the pump and check the wiring with a multi-meter. Then if the pump is bad it is a simple matter of removing the old, reading the specs off the label and installing a marine replacement.
