I think I have a (40353D- E 02235) 40hp Big twin Evinrude 1963. I went to change the impeller and the lower seal under the pump housing and had a few problems but I got it done. When I put the new impeller on, it was hard to turn the drive shaft. After putting it all back together it failed to pump water. IT did pump a little so you can see a couple of drops come out. I went through the book and everything was done right. The new impeller was hard to fit into the housing. I wonder if this could be the wrong pump. Please check year for me.
