I've had a cover for almost three years and I notice it's not as water proof as it used to be. I use this cover over the mooring cover at home 12mt/yr. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good waterproofing spray for this canvas?

I always used the stuff in the sporting goods section at Wal-Mart. Had an orange cap. It worked great.

Glad someone mentioned 303. If the material we're talking about is a 'solution dyed acrylic' say like Sunbrella? It's important to note that 303 'High Tech Fabric Guard' is the only protectant/waterproofer they recommend. Not trying to dis any of the other products, just saying.

I realize it costs a lil more but I use it on my canvas & I recommend it to all my customers. Also there's 303 'Aerospace Protectant' which imo is second to none for treating vinyl, plastic, rubber, etc. Just about anything besides wood.

You might find this hard to believe, then again you might not, but I've actually had competitors tell me I was a fool for instructing customers how to best care for their canvas'n vinyl. Bears note that two of those guys didn't survive the so-called 'recession' and a third is still teetering on the brink. But I digress.

It's your boat. Smear mink oil on it if'n ya like. Me I'll stick to 303 products.

Re: Water repellent spray for cover

I just ordered 303, based on research on this site and many other websites (including sailing only) that understood the 303 is one of the best for a reason.

This comparison of water repellent products pretty much makes it clear that 303 is one of the best and still affordable for the Sunbrella products. It's also the only one recommended for Sunbrella. While the report is from 04, it's still relevant today.

I didn't spend top dollar on top dollar fabric to ruin it with some cheap walmart product! have you seen the people that shop there? LOL

Any way to find 303 without ordering it?
