Water temp sender location ?

93 Merc 4.3 LX with full closed system. My aluminum Edelbrock intake Manifold has spots where I could mount the Water Temp Sender & Water Temp Audio warning sensor. Is it ok to mount these into the manifold or do they need to stay in the Thermostat housing ?

I'm certainly not an expert on this, but I beleive my 4.3 water sender is in the intake manifold, to the left of the thermostat. But mine is fresh water cooled, so I dont know if there is a difference.
