Water temp sending unit... Where at??

I have an issue with my temp gauge showing theengine is running cold. I have done some trouble shooting and have narrowed it down to the Temp sending unit. However, I have looked through the manual and can't seem to find where this is located at.

Can anyone please let me know? I have a 1990 mercruiser 5.0lx. Serial number 0C774704 Can someone please let me know where this is?

Either on the front of the intake manifold or the thermostat housing. Will have a tan wire going to it.
