This may be a real dumb question, but i am going to ask it anyway. I want to check things before i finish up replacing the outdrive, i am working on changing the bellows and hoses, etc. I understand that you can shove a garden hose in the water inlet hole and run it. Question is, where does the water exit once it runs through the motor? through the exhaust bellows? (Alpha 1 gen 2 outdrive)

Not with the drive off I don't think.
There will be no resistance to force it through the relief ports.

Yes it will... As the drain holes for the reliefs are the lower part of the exhaust port where the bullhorns (exhaust Y-pipe) bolt on, then gravity will act and the water will go through those. You will get some water out of the main chamber (bottom of the bell-housing), but most will be out of the reliefs...

I've run many an engine like that. No problems....
