waterpump housing cracked

I have a 1970 even. 25 hp. would a cracked waterpump housing cause water to get in the gearcase? thanks John

Sounds like you have a bad seal... start with checking to make sure there are not 2 seals in your drain/ fill plugs.
(I did that last week, left the old seal in there.)

In a word----no. But it might cause the pump not to work.

yea i've checked drain plug gaskets. I noticed oil coming from drain holes and water bypass cover. I pulled lower unit and oil coverd everything.

I bet you tilt your motor all the way up.

The driveshaft seals that are directly below the water pump are probably leaking. When you tilt it up, the oil leaks out,
and then when tilted down, it drains from the holes you mention.
