waterpump installation

heres a quick question....when installing the waterpump do you use sealant anywhere on the waterpump. also when reinstalling the lower unit to the housing...no gasket????sealant????:confused:

between the impeller housing & stainless steel plate some models have a gasket & some an o-ring type seal & no gasket or sealing required with gearbox bolting onto leg , to the best of my knowledge . however make sure you have a grommet where the copper tube fits in

In salty or brackish water I apply a slight amount of permatex to the threads of all bolts. This seems to aid in later removal.

Gee, what HP and year motor are we talking about? My '98 Johnny uses silicone caulk to glue in some orings and some Permetex #3 for the gaskets.

In salty or brackish water I apply a slight amount of permatex to the threads of all bolts. This seems to aid in later removal.

The manuals for my engines (currently ranging from 1981 to 1993) call for putting a small amount of OMC gasket sealing compound on the threads of most of those bolts.
