Re: Waterpump

remember to turn drive shaft clockwise when installing impeller to position the vanes correctly also I use a small amount of white lubeon the vane tips to decrease initial wear. have fun and remeber to do it again next year.

Re: Waterpump

hello<br /> you will find its better to place the pump impeller in the housing then bring the assly down on the shaft and drive key. jonnyrudes are about the most difficult to do a pump job on. the reason for placing the impellor in the housing is cause most the time on the V jonny rudes the vanes snatch the oring out . but do about 100 a year for about 10 years and its no worries :) the first one makes ya sweat bullets :) <br /><br /> good luck and keep posting

Re: Waterpump

I don't know if that's the oring you have left over or not but there's difinitely an oring that goes on the driveshaft jam up against the splines in the crank.<br />Use plenty of grease on the driveshaft splines but don't get any on the end of the it.<br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty

Re: Waterpump

I'm curious: If the Waterpump impeller vanes were installed facing the "wrong direction," would they "right themselves?"<br /><br />What would be the consequences of a "backwards facing" impeller?<br /><br />Ken

Re: Waterpump

You're not wrong, you're right. They will right themselves. (I think that's right).<br /><br />Grease on the top (end) of the driveshaft will not be able to squeeze out and when you tighten the bolts, it puts a bunch of up force on the crankshaft.<br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty

Re: Waterpump

Thanks everyone the motor runs great and the pump is peeing like a race horse,But I pose one more question...when I join the lower unit to the upper unit, it leaks water in between the two units, is that okay? It also did that before I changed the pump. Thanks everyone! I love the site! FISH ON!!!!!
