Hey guys and gals, quick question for someone with a trained eye.
I have a 95 3.0lx, I performed the first oil change on it yesterday after picking it up from the previous owner. I have put about 30 hours or so on it.
After reading thread after thread about water intrusion I would like to put my worries to rest and have some other folks take a peek whom might have a much better eye for these sorts of things.

The first pic is a shot of just the boat oil by itself -

This second shot is a pic of the boat oil and a sample of used oil from an air cooled Honda motorcycle for comparison, Honda oil is in glass with red graduations on the side -

I hope these shots do it justice, i have looked for the majority of the symptoms listed in here such as increase in oil level, milk shake coming out of dip stick etc but have not experienced any of them. Hoping that things are A-Ok but would like to get someone else's opinion on the matter. I attempted to the oil on a paper towel trick as well and all seemed ok considering the top half of the container i used to catch the oil got sprayed with water from the fake a lake yesterday after I had it sitting on the driveway :( I would assume I would see some more obvious tell tale signs from the pics correct that would indicate water being combined with oil in a running engine ?
No one has ever accused me of having a good eye for color :)

Thanks!

Re: Watery oil ?

they look the same to me

you are concerned with water in the oil??

it would look like coffee with cream added to it (milky color)

Howdy,

If you had any significant water intrusion, you would see a HUGE difference in only an hour of running and it would look milky.

The oil in your pictures looks fine!

Re: Watery oil ?

Take that oil and put it in a empty clear water bottle and shake it, see what it feels and looks like. Then add about 1/2 the volume (1 part water 2 parts oil) of water and shake the s*** out of it for a minute or so. Two things will happen the oil will change color and change consistency (it should get thick), kinda like a milkshake. Now you know what water in engine oil looks like. Have fun.;)

I agree, that oil looks fine.

Water in oil is pretty distinct, and you instantly get this nice knot in your stomach the moment you pull the dipstick out and find it:(
