wave or sea conditions

I live in Pasadena Maryland I have a 2003 sea pro w/90hp Yamaha 2 stroke outboard, a few days ago i took the boat out for a spin and the water was really nasty I was wondering when and how will I know the best times and sea conditions to go out in? also I really busted up the propeller on my last trip out and is looking purchase a replacement.

Most weather forecasts will have winds and wave forecasts there also may be a website or phone number with that info.
And of course you need to watch the horizon for changing conditions.Also would be good to know where you might find shelter from a storm.
If the prop isn't busted up too much it might be cost effective to have it repaired.
The prop size is probably under the prop nut. Size is written diameter X pitch. Pitch is the critical number
if a prop is intended for your motor the diameter is a secondary consideration.
