Just wondering, if there are any tricks to waxing a boat while it is on a trailer...especially wondering if there are any easy ways to slightly lift the boat off the bunks to wax under them. I'm talking here about a 19' fiberglass boat I/O (relatively heavy)....

I never worry about waxing the bottom. As long as it's clean I'm good.

Be sure you wax the inside of the bilge first.

Ah, there is one in every bunch...

The reason I am asking, is more to shine it up a bit, than to actually apply wax...

If you must lift it a little you could always drop the tongue (lifting the stern), block up the stern, and then crank the tongue back up. Should give you a few inches but will decrease as you move towards the tongue.

And don't forget to wax the bilge :D

Some people say that waxing the bottom will actually increase drag in the water. No experience with that though. I have bottom paint.

would waxing my bottom hurt as much as waxing my eyebrows?

I sit on a creeper, and don't worry about the unexpossed areas

A waxed bottom IS slower... :p

On your average boat, probably won't notice a difference. On my jet ski, wax on the bottom will slow it down 1-2 mph. Good part is that it only lasts 20 minutes at best before it picks the speed up, so i'm assuming thats how long the majority of wax stays on before being blasted off.

I tried this BTS Protectant, it is like an armor-all for gel-coats. Spray on and wipe off. Leaves a shine and is supposed to make it slicker too. Worked pretty well, exspecially for how easy it was (shined it up at least), you can use it on the seats too. Ran me about 16 dollars for a bottle.
