I need to glue a small piece of plastic. It is under load and I have never had any luck with super glue.

It is the door for the battery compartment for my boom box and one of the little ears broke.

I would appreciate any ideas or home remedies that you might have as mine don't work it seems... :( :(

This is unmistakably a job for duct tape!

No seriously, I patched a camera battery compartment once by gluing one part of a velcro strip on the door thingy and the other part on the body of the device. The velcro made a sort of hinge.

Nother idea, get some 5 minute epoxy and apply a little bit to the place where the tab broke off. Then after it sets, use a razor and sandpaper or maybe a file to shape in into the shape you need. That really ought to work.

Hey Pointer
Most "super glues" need to have air restricted in order for them to work. But since its a door you will want to open again a low tech way would be Duct-Tape.
If your trying to glue the ears back on, try a super glue then hold the door under water for a couple seconds.
Datey (found at hardware stores) makes several joint compounds that actually melt the two pieces together.
LOCTITE 495 and PASCO fix both are good super glues
http://www.pascofix.nwy.at for more information
a lot of glues wont work with some polyurethanes (sp)

A little off track but about 20 years ago we were fishing out on Lake Ontario and my 'blaster lost the little glass peice that tells you what channel you are on. My bud stuck it back together with his chewing gum. LKasted through three boats and two bobhouses 'fore that gum gave up. God I miss that radio.
