1972 Mercruiser 120 I had occasion to have to rebuild the carb and realized I had the wrong carb. Got the right carb and when adjusting idle on it noticed the barrel on the cable was all the way to the stern and the idle screw was all the way in. The old carb idled fine at this, but in order to get a bit more room in the screw I screwed the barrel forward to the bow and backed the idle screw out. Carb idles fine and boat runs great, but it will not bring itself back to an idle. If I manually push the linkage back it does or if I put the barrel back at the stern it will, but then I have to get the idle adjustment all the way in then to get it to idle. Do I just need a stronger return spring?
