weak spark in #1cyl merc 75hp

hi its a 2002 merc 75elpto 2stroke.my buddy checked out the plugs and he said that the #1cyl plug is not getting enough spark or a weak spark.it has a cdm if that helps any.do i need to give more info?

Check for broken plug wire, I've had that problem before.

the#1 cyl has orange spark and 2&3 have a nice blue.and he said something about it wont jump a 7/16gap.

I would look at everything from plug back to coil. If the other two are firing good then it needs to be the plug/wire/distributer. if you can run it at night start the motor (in the dark) and see if it is arcing on anything. If you are looking to only replace one pulg wire there is a wire kit that you cut to size and attach the ends, I have used them a couple of times with good results. you can get it at the auto parts store. checker, NAPA, or auto zone.

this motor has a cdm not a distributor.the plugs and wires are fine.so that would narrow it down to what??coil,stator ??

Probably one of the other 2 CDMs is going bad, unplug them 1 at a time and check the spark on #1 if that don't work get back and we can give you the system test.
