Where did I get the web search tool bar from.
I have always had the yahoo search bar and today I did a search for something and this webSearch thingy came up.
I went into the help section to find out how to get rid of it and it told me to go to my add/remove section to do it, but it is not there to remove.
Now what?
I do not like it so how do I get rid of it now?

Could it be some sort or spyware?
I know I had a bunch of crap on mine that looked like one thing but was really spyware. I know your useing mcafee, so have you run a scan? prolly should if you havent. Maybe you can find a free spybot/spyware destroyer on line.

Go to this site and download a free copy of Adaware6.1

http://www.tucows.com/preview/236049.html

I use this software regularly to remove spyware from my pc. Tucows is a well known and respected distributare of software, lots of it free.

I run the program about once a week. I had a popup that I coulnd not kill and this program found where it was and took care of it.

Might try doing a system restore to a time prior to getting the new tool bar. What ever you do do not remove Internet explorer. Your system will not start up without the program. I tried doing this in hopes that I could reinstall a new clean version. Problem is after you uninstall it you have to restart your computer before you reinstall it.

These guys are probably on track to finding the root of the problem. To just make it go away you might try - Tools - internet options - progams - reset web settings. I know the right way is to follow what these guys are saying but I get sick of chasing down things like this each time it happens. I usually patch them up till they get to be too many then backup, format, reload.

Spin,

If you will right click on each item it will give you a summary of what that item is.

Typically I quarantine everything. If every thing works smoothly for a couple of weeks then I delete the file. I have never had to restore anything from quarntine though.

Thanks Parrott, I will give it a shot and see what happens.

If you hear a big explosion from the area of Kentucky, you will know what happened.

I got mad and put a bomb in it.
